Privacy Policy

Your photos stay on your iPhone; mood text goes to the AI only if you allow it. Here is what is stored where, and what is sent when.

At a glance

  • FilmMood (필름무드 AI) has no account or sign-in, and contains no advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs. There are no in-app purchases.
  • Your albums, imported photos, graded copies and saved looks stay on your iPhone. We, the developer of FilmMood, run no server that receives or stores them.
  • Film grading (warmth, grain, contrast) and scene grouping (indoor, outdoor, night and so on) run on the device with Core Image.
  • Only when you build a look with the Mood Agent, and only after you allow AI data sharing, is text such as your mood description sent to DeepSeek in China. Photo files and pixels are never sent.

What is stored on your device

The items below are kept as JSON and image files in the app's own storage (Application Support) and are not sent off the device. Depending on your iPhone settings they may be included in an iCloud or computer backup.

  • Albums: album name, mood note and the list of photos in it
  • Photos you add: the original file and a thumbnail for each photo you pick in the in-app browser or shoot with the camera, the Photos identifier and pixel size. Capture details inside the original file (EXIF, possibly location) may remain in the app's copy, but are not transmitted.
  • Graded copies: JPEG files with your look applied
  • Looks (recipes): the mood phrase, grading values, how the look was made (text, voice or reference photo), and the reference photo thumbnail with the scene description read from it
  • AI reply summaries, accept and correction records, activity history, screen position, export records and your AI-sharing choice
  • Voice: when you speak a mood, a recording (filmmood-voice-mood.wav) is made in the temporary folder and overwritten by the next recording.

What leaves your device

WhenWhatWhere to
You send a moodThe mood phrase you typed, the grading values of the look you last accepted in that album, and earlier AI reply summaries and accept records for that albumDeepSeek (api.deepseek.com)
You use a reference photoOnly the on-device reading: up to 6 scene labels, up to 4 lines of any text visible in the photo, and brightness, contrast and colour figures. No photo file, pixels or face data.DeepSeek
You speak a moodYour recording is turned into Korean text by Apple speech recognition. The app does not restrict recognition to the device, so the audio may be sent to Apple's servers. The resulting text is then sent to DeepSeek like a typed mood.Apple, then DeepSeek
You tap “Save to Photos”The graded JPEG is added to your photo libraryPhotos on your iPhone

Album names, the photos in your albums and graded copies are not sent to DeepSeek. Each request carries the app's API key, and DeepSeek can see your IP address as part of the connection.

AI data sharing: consent and withdrawal

The first time you open the Mood Agent or tap the camera, library or microphone button there, an “AI data sharing” screen appears. Nothing is sent to DeepSeek until you tap Allow. If you choose “Later”, you cannot create new looks, but adding photos, applying looks you already saved, reusing a look in another album and saving to Photos all keep working.

Turning off Settings > AI data sharing withdraws consent at once and cancels any request in progress. To use the agent again you must allow it again. We cannot recall anything already sent to DeepSeek.

International transfer

  • Recipient: DeepSeek (Hangzhou DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence Co., Ltd.), People's Republic of China
  • Items: mood phrases, text transcribed from your voice, reference-photo readings (scene labels, visible text, colour figures), earlier look values and reply summaries, IP address
  • When and how: over HTTPS each time you send a mood or use a reference photo or voice
  • Purpose: to generate film-look values and a short description matching your mood
  • Retention: under DeepSeek's own policy (DeepSeek Privacy Policy)
  • How to refuse: choose “Later” on the consent screen or switch sharing off in Settings; only new-look creation stops working.

Speech recognition is handled by Apple under the Apple Privacy Policy.

Permissions

  • Photos (read and write): shows your albums and photos in the in-app browser; only the photos you pick are copied into an album. You can grant “Selected Photos” access instead.
  • Add to Photos: used only when you save a graded copy.
  • Camera: to shoot a reference photo or add a new photo straight into an album.
  • Microphone and Speech Recognition: only when you describe a mood out loud.

You can turn any of these off in iPhone Settings > FilmMood; the rest of the app keeps working. The app does not ask for location access and sends no push notifications.

Keeping and deleting data

On-device data stays until you delete the app. Long-press a photo in an album and choose Delete to remove its original and thumbnail. The app currently has no menu to delete a whole album or all data at once, so to remove everything, delete the app. Graded copies you saved to Photos must be deleted in the Photos app.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under Korea's Personal Information Protection Act or the GDPR), you may ask to access, correct, delete or stop the processing of your personal information. Because we keep none of it on a server, most of this is done directly in the app and in iPhone Settings. Requests about data already sent to DeepSeek can be made to DeepSeek; write to us if you need help.

FilmMood is not directed at children under 14.
